Before I begin I would like to say that I know this review is long but I wanted to relate our experience with yourmovingday. First I would like to say when you contract a moving company to move your belonging you need to check out the local moving company affiliated with the major carrier. We relocated from Minnesota to Arizona and contacted several moving companies associated with major carriers for quotes. After choosing a carrier affiliated with yourmovingday I went to the BBB website to check their records. There were two local carriers affiliated with yourmovingday. One carrier had a few complaints against them and the other had very few. In the end we chose americas moving services who are affiliated with yourmovingday to complete our move. The first thing that happens is they have someone call your house to do an inventory. When he was complete he figured what it would cost for our move. This figure is based mostly on weight. We were given a binding estimate based on the estimated weight. We also decided to have this company pack our belongings and set up a date for the move. Our move date was set for 2/15/09 or 2/16 and our delivery date was set between 4 and 10 days later. As far as I know the move date is firm. The delivery date can vary by as much as five days. It's just the way they do business and it was the same with all the moving companies we got quotes from. Two days before the move the driver of the moving van called us about our delivery date. Let me say at this time that the driver was very polite. The driver wanted to know if he could move up the delivery date. We had no problem doing this and knowing a firm delivery date. Also, two days before the move the movers called to let us know when they would be there to pack our belongings. The day before the move the packers showed up on time and were very professional about their job. They completed packing in a little over 5 hours. The only problem was they had the wrong size boxes for our mattresses. They said they would bring the correct ones back first thing the next morning. Also, the day before the move the driver came and did his inventory which he usually doesn't do until the day of the move. The day of the move the moving van and loaders showed up when they said they would be there. The packers also showed up early with the correct boxes for our mattresses. They laid out runners to protect our floors and covered the door jambs. They had everything loaded before noon. They didn't cause any damage and were also very professional. Before we left we set up a time with the driver to meet us at our new house in Arizona. The day of delivery the driver and unloaders were there on time. They also laid out runners and protected our door jambs. Everything was unloaded and placed where it was suppose to go. The only problem we had was when they reassembled our table they used the wrong screws and damaged our table top. The driver immediately called America's Movers to send us out a claim form. When we received our claim form we found out it can take up to 120 days to settle the claim. We were settled within 3 weeks. All in all our experience with Americas moving services and yourmovingday affiliates was great. There was good communication between americas moving services and the moving van driver. We were satisfied with our move through yourmovingday.
