My first words of advice here is- Please review any vendor on Yelp before hire a cheap vendor from Craigslist. Had I done so, I would saved myself a lot of aggravation.
I was moving out of my tiny 800 sq foot apartment, and wanted to ensure that I got my security deposit back. My usual carpet cleaner was book that day so I found an ad on Craig's List. 2 Rooms for $55 and $1.25 per foot for special treatment.
The cleaners got to my apartment rather quickly. As soon as he walked in he claimed it smelled like I had a pet, which is funny because I always ask my guests and they can never tell I have a pet. I showed him the one area at my patio door which I felt needed some extra treatment ( approx 5x5) He then tells me its going to be an extra $30--now according to the phone quote it should have only been an additional $6.25 -we're talking a pretty big difference. I told him that was far over my budget of $55, but since I was in a rush to give my manager the keys to my old place and after being haggled about the $5 difference, I agreed to have the carpets cleaned for $75.
I stood in my kitchen and watched this guy run the cleaner once over each area- NEVER- not one time going over the area I agreed to pay an additional $25 for. They "cleaned' the apartment in 6 minutes, literally... I was furious and demanded that he take the cleaner one more time over the area he was charging me extra for. He began cursing and acting irate.
Once they were finished he rudely said, "You got cash right!" , When I explained to him that they arrived sooner than expected and told him he was have to follow me to the ATM, which was only 1 block away, he verbally abused me and began screaming obscenities in Hebrew,
When I had the cleaners follow me in my car to the bank, as I gave him the cash payment he made a rude remark, saying to me, I can't believe you worry about $5 when you drive a BMW! The nerve! After I paid $25 more than what they quoted me. The carpet was still dirty and soaking wet when I returned from the bank.
NEVER- EVER- again will I ever pay for a service to a man who verbally abuses me in my own home. These guys are crooks!
