Customer Service Severely Lacking
|
My mother and I went on a river cruise to Russia and a preextension trip to Helsinki, Finland. Despite the slew of advertisements and promotional mail sent to us, Viking failed to inform us sufficiently of the visa requirements needed to travel to Russia. Both of us never traveled to a country that needed a visa obtained beforehand and thus, never knew what they looked like. Because of the failure in communication, we were removed from the train taking us to St. Petersburg from Helsinki. We, two small women with several hundred pounds of luggage, were left alone to fend for ourselves. The lack of visas resulted in enormous costs for emergency rush visas, extra nights in a hotel, and the train ticket to Russia, not to mention travel delays, which resulted in us missing part of our tour. We experienced unimaginable stress and anxiety from being stuck in a foreign country and would have gone home had it not been for the fact that our return flight left from Moscow. Viking did not help us, and would not give us any consideration. We even begged Klaus, the VP of customer service for some assistance, but to no avail. We had to pay for everything, including the pick up from the St. Petersburg train station. This incident affected our trip adversely and left a sour taste in our mouths. Viking does not care for the customer, especially after they've paid in full.
