This company uses bait and switch techniques, doesn't keep their word and tells you verbal agreements are not binding! Consumer beware.
I had scheduled a move with SS and they told me the crew would be there early at 12:30. But the crew did not arrive until after 3pm. Later, they claim that because they arrived within their 1-4 window, they are technically "on time." Their late arrival caused us to continue moving well into the evening. By then, the crew was tired and I had missed my professional appointment. The crew discussed continuing the move in the morning with the Manager who apparently had to wait until they returned (he of course wanted to leave as well). We all spoke by phone and I specifically said/asked if I agree to this, I do not want to be charged an additional day of moving. The manager told me I would not be charged an additional day and both he and the moving person assured me it would be part of the same day.
Of course when I received the bill, the company did in fact charge me for the second day. The excuses I have received: verbal agreements are not binding, there's no way we would have said that, you signed documents and therefore you are liable (despite the docs saying "TBC (deposit)".
The company presents you with so much confusing documentation and information about what is a deposit, a deduction from the deposit and a charge, etc. And it's all done when they arrive when you're ready and under deadline to move.
Even when trying to resolve this in a professional manner, you are met with horrible customer service--that is when you can finally get someone to talk to you. I received very unprofessional e-mails stating I was responsible for the charge and then threatened with a stop payment on the credit card would mean I would also be responsible for late fees and a hit on my credit report.
