Several years prior, I used Starving Students and they did a good job at a fair price. We needed them once again and arranged for their services. I was required to put up a $240 cash deposit. We were moving our furniture from our home to a storage locker. I gave them $240 cash and they proceeded to make the move. Once we arrived at the storage locker, they wanted an addition $800 before they would off load the furniture. I was quoted $140/hour and the total amount of time was 3 hours. That amounts to $420 total minus the $240 cash deposit. I told them that their arithmetic was faulty and that they should re-calculate the numbers. Finally, they demanded another $400 before they would off load the furniture. They claimed that I had to pay for their gasoline from the last customer to my home and then to the storage locker. So, a simple move that should have cost no more than $400 ended up costing me more than $600. They quote you an hourly rate, then ambush you at the destination with fuel charges, tarp charges, special handling fees and on and on. I will NEVER use Starving Students again. I believe the company name is a fraud as well.
