Scare Tactics against Elderly, Misrepresenting Local Police Info
|
I am a manager of a mobile home community in Southern California. A sales rep from this company approached one of my elderly residents (in a no soliciting area) and advised her of several home invasions in the community. This was false information and not supported by the local police department. He then proceeded to intimidate this elderly woman into giving him her information and social security number, signing a contract and getting $100.00 from her for installation. The installer never showed up and when she called to tell them to cancel the contract and not deposit her check (within a one day period) the check had already been cashed. This may be a legitimate business, but the forces used to gain a contract are elder abuse and misrepresentation. The company needs to take care to hire honest and trust worthy sales agents, and to respect state, city and community rules when they enter places to go door to door.
I for one would laugh at any one trying to sell me something at my door in todays world. Find a new way of doing business Skyline!
