Dishonest Dentist
|
I was a patient of Dr. Garrett's for several years. During one visit I felt Dr. Garrett was pushing services I did not need. When he told me something I knew to be untrue, I left the office. I decided to contact his office later to obtain copies of all of my dental records.. I explained I wanted the notes because Dr. Garrett had placed two veneers on my front teeth and I knew in a few years I would want to replace them. I figured maybe the notes might be of some help to the new dentist. Anyway I couldn't get these notes no matter how much I called, telephoned, and sent written requests. The only thing I received was story after story.
I first heard that Dr. Garrett did not give patients copies of his dental notes. The next story was that half of my file was in storage and the other half was in the office. The half that contained doctor notes was in storage and I would have to wait until these notes could be retrieved. I waited and waited. I did not receive a call or the notes. I called again and again. The next story was that the notes had been recorded electronically and they would be sent to me. I waited and waited. I did not receive the notes as promised so I called again. I was placed on hold indefinitely so I hung up and called back. This time I reached voice mail and left a message.
I called a week later and was then told by Dr. Garrett my dental records had been lost. When I asked how his receptionist knew the exact age of my veneers if there were no records of this procedure and it was years ago,
Dr. Garrett told me she must have just guessed lucky.
I think it is of particular concern the inconsistencies and complete lack of professionalism that came from this office.
