We had a straight forward refinance to do. We selected Ovation because they promised to move this along smoothly. They said they would give me a complete list of what to supply, and that would be it. After the initial info was supplied they came back two more times. Then they came back four more times, each time promising this was the last request. Sometimes they were asking for stuff we had already sent them but they lost it. They scheduled closing four times, each of the first two, cancelling the day before because they needed more information again. This wasted vacation days. The third time the notary didn't show, so it had to be scheduled a fourth time. After the closing they came back yet again with threats of legal action for us to provide even more information that they apparently neglected to collect before closing. Then when they sold the mortgage they didn't supply them our correct mailing address (it's a PO Box instead of the property address) so notices were delayed getting to us.
I recommend not using these guys, especially if Marc Allen, Derek, Martin, or Chris Wilson are involved.
And to top it all off, the underwriter (Derek) didn't know the difference between a CD and a money market account. He wanted to know the penalty for early withdrawal from our money market, insisting there must be one.
The total time took over three months.
Sadly they know that once you start the process you are locked in and they don't need to respect your time.
