On 09/09/10, my 2008 Saturn Astra was taken to Martin Chevrolet due to engine service light, rough idle and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning light. Vehicle is under full three year 36,000 bumper to bumper warranty with current mileage at 22230 and purchase date of 05/28/10.

On 10/01/10, after extensive delay, I was advised by Martin Chevrolet that vehicle was ready for delivery however, all of the issues could not be resolved. Martin Chevrolet advised that they would not repair an issue related to the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) under the bumper to bumper warranty. I protested the issue and was advised that Service Manager made the decision not to diagnose or repair the issue due to "debris" being found inside one tire. I requested to speak with identified manager telephonically and was not forwarded.

I then went to Martin Chevrolet with my wife at approximately 1645 on 10/01/10 to speak with the service manager and was advised he was not present. I then requested to see the debris found in my tire that voided the warranty and was advised my tire had been replaced and I could not physically view. I was then advised by the service representative that there would be no further discussion related to work on the tire pressure system and that my vehicle and invoice were ready.

Upon review of the invoice, it was discovered that Martin Chevrolet had changed my purchase and warranty date from May 28, 2008 to November 29, 2007. The Saturn Astra was not available in the US in November 2007 however, Martin Chevrolet changed the delivery date in the GM database which removed six months of bumper to bumper warranty coverage on this veh. I retain all purchase and service records indicating correct warranty date up to this service in which Martin Chevrolet manipulated.

The vehicle was then received by my wife and self in total disarray and we had to remove documents and rags from the vehicle prior to driving home. The mileage indicated 43 miles were incurred in the repair which is above and beyond the mileage required to diagnose and repair. The interior smelled of oil, gas and alcohol (beer) and the exterior indicated extensive grease and oil with scratch to the right front quarter panel. The TPMS monitor continued to alert despite my request for service for a major safety issue. The invoice does not indicate any attempt to diagnose or repair the TPMS and does not indicate removal/inspection of tires.

At this time incident is being reviewed by GM customer care however, I would highly discourage any Saturn or GM customer from servicing you vehicle at this site. Personnel encountered appeared to be burnt out, non-motivated with no pride of work or service. There appears to be limited Saturn parts availability and technical knowledge based on the extensive delay and lack of service I experienced.
