The "30 Day Happiness Guarantee" is anything but that.
I got the phone and the plan at a Helio store in Manhattan, NYC. After a week, I decided to cancel. I was not happy with it. I brought the phone back and the cost of the phone was credited back to my credit card. THE NEXT DAY, Helio hit me up on my credit card for the first month's service. When I got the phone and signed up for the plan I was told, and this is in writing, that I would not be charged until the end of the first 30 days. If I was not happy within that time frame, I can return the phone and get a refund for the cost of it. I called Helio and questioned why I had been billed for service a week after signing the contract. I wanted to know 1) why I didn't receive a bill in the mail before the money was taken out of my credit card and 2) why the money had been taken out of my credit card 3 weeks before it was due. I was told the money is debited on the day the billed is issued and not the day that it is due. After several more phone calls to Helio, I was told I would have to wait 'a few weeks' for a refund. I called a few weeks later and was told I would have to wait 30-59 days for a refund after my account was reviewed by a number of personnel members on various accounting levels. SO... I sent an email on the 60th day after I closed the account. I received a response telling me that my account had been closed. (OH, really?! LOL) and that according to their review, I had no outstanding balance and Helio owed my no money.
My next steps are complaints to the Better Business Bureau and the FCC. From what I've read online, the BBB is the more reliable source for action.
One more thing. When you call Helio and are either waiting for a human to speak with or have actually gotten that far and have been put on hold, you can expect the loudest, most obnoxious, inaudible music while you patiently wait for well over 15 minutes.
