Hiring a moving company on short notice was most upsetting.
After hearing all the bad horror stories on the web I was at wits end where to look.
I hired Guardian Moving Systems to take care of moving my things from Los Angeles to San Francisco.
The sales consultant I spoke with was very reassuring.
He told me that his approach to my move would be as if he was the lead guy driver and in charge of the movers.
I needed to move in two days and I did not want to get taken advantage of on such short notice.
When the movers arrived as I answered the door they were already bringing in boxes and the packing supplies.
Bill was the lead-guy , Juan and Mike were the mover helpers.
Bill told me that the first 1-2 hours all three would be packing my personal loose items into the boxes.
Then Mike was to begin moving the furniture with Juan to the truck as Bill mopped up the packing.
As Bill completed the packing he told me that all the Hercules movers were cross-trained.
The Guardian movers are trained to pack dishes,lamps,china and things of that nature, lamps and glass tops, mirrors.
They also are trained to move furniture.
Mike and Juan were moving out "two man pieces" as Bill explained this to be the furniture requiring 2 men to move it.
I have tight turns in the upstairs rooms and hall ways.
Mike and Juan had to navigate these turns then it was down a staircase.
The staircase has a landing with a turn halfway down.
My house that we were moving out of was bulit in the 1920's and furniture was smaller then.
When Mike and Juan came to the landing they "high-lowed" my dressers as Bill explained it.
Mike was on top and he military pressed the one end of the dresser way up in the air.
Juan lowered the dresser on his end as he was on the bottom and he held the dressser right above almost touching the stairs.
It's all about the angles Bill said.
When Bill was finished packing what was left in the kitchen he told me would start to carry out the one man pieces.
This was the dining chairs, night stands end tables things that one man could carry.
We had moved in the past and usually the lead guy boss was never to be seen.
He would stay on the truck and the movers would bring the things out to him.
Mike Bill and Juan were all three stacking the furniture into the truck.
They would cover wrap the furniture with big blankets and where there was a hole in the load the size to fit the peice they loaded they squeezed it in.
Bill told me that this is the only way to do it.
You don't want your stuff moving around inside the truck as they drove the 400 miles up the coast.
In no time at all our house was empty and they shut the doors and ready lets go!
We agreed to meet the next morning at our new place at 9 a.m. to take the things from the truck into our new house in San Francisco.drive
I was amazed that they could load up my whole house in one day,drive 400 miles and deliver the next day.
Bill told me this is what they do and yes @8:45 a.m the next morning the truck pulled up in front of the house.
These Hercules movers do not waste any movement.
When they got out of the truck Juan and Mike pulled the ramp out from the rack holding it under the truck.
Billed unlocked the door and by the time he swung it open they guys were right there and put the moving ramp onto the truck.
Dollies came out with boxes stacked on it from the get go and furniture was right behind it.
Bill Mike Juan had all our things moved into the new house in half the time it took to load.
Guardian was the most efficient pleasing move we had ever had in all our lives.
