Several months ago, we purchased tickets on Fandango.com. Unknowingly, we were apparently signed up for a product provided through a company operating the web sites: http://www.shopperdiscountsandrewards.com/ and http://home.reservationrewards.com/. It appears that they are both under a company named "Webloyalty.com, Inc." based in Norwalk, CT 06851 (you can search for this on the BBB web site). Webloyalty.com has a very poor record according to the BBB and I find it disturbing that a company as well known as Fandango would subject their customers to such a disreputable partner, and do so in a manner that signs them up for a service without requiring any kind of affirmative opt-in from the customer. They even passed along our billing information which set us up for monthly billing without our informed consent. At a minimum, Fandango.com should ensure that a customer is not signed up for any other services without their explicit knowledge and consent. Ideally, they would only allow this secondary transaction to occur though a process that is not part of actually purchasing tickets, or at least clearly make it a line-item in the order for confirmation. In all, we are so displeased with this that we will not use Fandango.com in the future.
Note: We got the service we expected from Fandango.com; we were able to order and print our tickets on-line exactly as they offered. Hence, I gave them two stars instead of one.
