Review 10/3/2009
|
On 9/8/2009, I went for just an oil change at EZ Lube ( the one in Huntongton Beach on edinger ave and gothard st). The “advisor” recommended that I do an engine flush claiming that it was necessary to carry out those repairs. Later they called me to go over other services that were recommended. Among these services were a radiator fluid exchange, tire rotations and an air filter exchange. Again, the technician said that it was necessary and since an engine flush was carried out it was recommended to change the radiator fluid as well. The advisor was very insistent that the services were needed and will improve my car’s performance.
Less than 48 hours later, smoke was coming from under the hood. My brother went to the EZ Lube the car was fixed at, and Glenn Kottler, the manager, accompanied them to the car and said that “I hope they didn’t damage one of the hoses” in what I perceived as an admission of guilt. Glenn added coolant to the radiator but it leaked right out. He then proposed that we fix the car, bring the bill to him and he would submit it to management and try to get them to pay for it. Later that day, Dave Tennaca, from EZ Lube management, called and asked what happened. He explained that EZ Lube was not taking responsibility of the car and they are not going to pay for it. He then added that if we don't agree, then we should go to another mechanic and get a third opinion. We went to Fladeboe Honda in Irvine and their report stated " found car radiator and heater hose leaking, customer stated car was just at EZ Lube and had coolant flush done to the car. This could had been done do to performing wrong service at a time it was performed. Recommend to replace radiator, heater hose, thermostat and fan switch. After replaced all components recomanded to perform a block test and make sure there is not a blown head gasket." After sharing the results with David, he again refused paying for the damages. The repair costs went up to $3,000 because the engine was overheated and they had to fix it. It was such a huge slap to the face!!!
