Late payment for food wrap

We were called 4/28/12 with a message stating we were way over due on a purchase payment. We called DHWA back. They claim we bought food plastic wrap in 12/09 and never paid for it. We DID buy plastic wrap from "Lifeline Industries" on that date and did pay them in 1/10. Now DHWA says we owe over $400 in late fees. If we pay now over the phone, they will reduce it to $200. Otherwise they will send our case to court. It sounded legitimate, we paid. Next we called Lifeline. They had heard of these calls as a SCAM. We cancelled the card payment. Now DHWA is still calling wanting money. How does someone stop them?
