First, the order was for $969 and his appraisal shows $1789 so the value is not in question here. Clearly he paid HALF of what the retail cost of these stones are, regardless of the jewelers opinion on the color / clarity.
I understand people like to get a second opinion on the item, and you're more than welcome to do so. Keep in mind, and I tell this to all my customers, when grading a diamond it is subjective, so it's entirely up to the person who is grading it to make the decision on grade and color. I always tell our customers to sometimes expect 1 grade difference when taking it to an independent jeweler (who will always have his interest in mind). The jeweler you took it to doesn't even recognize SI3 (similar to I1), so they clearly use a different grading standard. We document every item's weight with a printout from our diamond scale so that discrepancy is solely based on calculation errors or conversion deviations.
In any case, if you're not happy with the item we offer a full refund on the purchase price if you send the item back.
