Review 12/6/2009

I am surprised--and, frankly, suspicious--to find a positive review of Dental Plus on the Better Business Bureau website. Dental Plus is assembly-line dentistry at its worst. Waits can last hours, it is rarely possible to see the same dentist more than once, so you must constantly re-tell stories and deal with conflicting information. While some of the specialists who work for them are outstanding, it is clear that the bottom line rather than the patient is the main concern of Dental Plus. My visit for a check-up ended up in thousand of dollars of work, most of which I later found out was necessary. After your exam you are ushered into a room to discuss payment and financing in an experience that I can only describe as akin to buying a used car. The one necessary surgery I had (at least I think it was) was botched and had to be performed again a year later. Two different dentists I've seen after Dental Plus have confirmed that this is a frequent problem at Dental Plus. They've also pointed out that my teeth are in excellent condition and that it's hard to believe I would have needed as much work as the dentists there claimed. If you do go to Dental Plus, I would be very cautious about anything Dental Plus recommends and always get a second opinion. I felt they were an exploitative company that cared much more about profit than actual health.
