Extremely disappointing. Often arrived very late or no-showed many days in a row and didn't return my phone calls. Typically worked only one day a week even after telling me I was the only person he was working for.
Very careless. For example, put up no sheeting to protect the rest of the house from the intense amount of demolition dust and debris, and chipped a chunk out of my brand new, cement front steps when trying to single handedly haul a cast iron tub out. He had said he would bring help for the hauling, but he didn't.
Very expensive. Since he never brought anyone to help him with work that would normally require several people, he took much longer to get things done. In addition, after firing him, I discovered the hours he had charged me for were greater than the hours he gave me receipts for, and his receipts included his buying 250 feet of Romex that never showed up at my house, as well as tools and coveralls that contractors don't usually bill their customers for.
After several months of an incredible range of excuses, I had to fire him and hire another contractor to take over the job. The new contractor was horrified at how much I had been charged, how careless the work was, and how long I had been left without a bathroom.
