!SCAM ALERT! !CONSUMERS BEWARE! !THIS COMPANY DOES NOT LIVE UP TO WHAT ITS NAME CLAIMS! Consumer Protection Legal Services, was affiliated with or hired a company named Homeowners Assistance, Inc. to do loan modifications on their behalf. HOA who has a BBB rating of an F, solicited my business by claiming that they were an attorney backed company, and that they had a 98 percent success rate in getting lenders to modify loans. I was promised that they would get my foreclosure stopped, get my interest rate down to a low rate, get past due mortgage payments waived or put on the back of my loan, get my mortgage balance reduced, and they would do a forensic loan audit to sue my lender if need be, to use as leverage to get the lender to modify my loan. I paid an advance fee of $3,999.00, and my foreclosure was not stopped nor did I get my loan modified as promised. They then said that I had to pay an additional fee of $1700.00 for a forensic loan audit to sue my lender, which they previously said was already included in my initial fee, but was just another way they could charge me an advance fee and not do anything to help me. In the beginning, after being pulled into their scam, I signed a retainer agreement with CPLS & The Law Offices Of Gary Lane, and paid a retainer fee of $3,999.00 to retain the services of an attorney to do a loan modification, and to negotiate with my lender to modify the terms of my loan. I did not pay $3,999.00 to retain the services of a non-attorney company like HOA, who has a BBB rating of an F, to do something as important as stopping a foreclosure and doing a loan modification to save my home.
CPLS and The Law Offices Of Gary Lane, now claims that HOA has been dissolved, since it has been no longer profitable for them to charge customers high advanced fees, because of the new law that went into effect in October 2009, in which they are required to actually get a client a loan modification before they charge a fee. Now they have found another way of getting around the new law, and once again charge clients a high advance fee, and that new scam ladies and gentlemen is forensic loan auduts. This company does not protect consumers it defrauds them. DON'T BE FOOLED! CALL THE CA. STATE BAR, THE OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION, AND YOUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES TO PREVENT THIS LATEST SCAM
