I heard a commercial on the radio for a "Free" Smoke Assist for the first 200 callers. I have smoked for 15 years, and my wife has smoked for about 10 years, so this seemed like a great opportunity to quit. I am unemployed and money is tight so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to try a less expensive alternative to cigarettes. The customer service rep who answered my call was reasonably pleasant initially and told me I was one of the first 200 callers in my area, so the machines would be free. He then proceeded to tell me that all I would have to pay is the shipping fee of $9.95 for both Smoke Assist machines. He asked for my name, address, quantity of cigarettes smoked, and confirmed that all I would be charged is the $9.95 shipping for the 2 machines. He then asked me for my credit card number, so I again asked if all that I would be charged was $9.95 and he said that is correct. I proceeded to give him my credit card number, exp. date, and security code. After taking my credit card number he proceeded to tell me that the "Free Smoke Assist" machine comes with 1 weeks worth of cigarette filters and that I would need to order more on a monthly basis (which I understood fully). He asked me to take down the number and gave me their hours of operation, which I did. He then told me that the filters cost $119.99 per monthly supply and they would send those as well (and that if I wasn't satisfied I could return them within 30 days), and I informed him about my current financial situation and told him that I am unable to purchase these filters at this time. He said that I misunderstood him and that there was no option to recieve the machine(s) without paying for the first months filters. He now has my credit card number, and in my opinion the way that this call was handled was VERY MISLEADING. Had I known that there was a mandatory charge of $9.95 + $119.99 I would NEVER HAVE GIVEN HIM MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER! I will be monitoring my bank account daily now because I feel that a company that misleads you into getting your card number by telling you one total and then changing it after they have your credit card information CAN'T BE TRUSTED! I will NEVER DO BUSINESS with such a SHADY COMPANY. I'm sure their product may be legitimate, but their business ethics are terrible! UNLESS YOU ARE READY TO GIVE THEM $130 DON'T CALL FOR THIS "FREE" OFFER!!!
