I did not have a good interaction with their inventory management system at all. There was a deal for the gtx 460 overclocked video card that was so hot everyone on slickdeal forums started ordering. I placed my order at the height of the frenzy when their inventory management system said that the product was in. I received confirmation that my card was charged and that the order was going through the process of being shipped.
I come to find out that morning that the order is mysteriously placed on backordered. Meanwhile, other folks who placed order are having intermittent success.. some are able to mysteriously place an order later on that morning a full 6 hours after mine was mysteriously declined. I didnt want to be charged multiple times so i call the csr, who informs me that their system conked out under the stress and actually lead to false promises of order shipment when the order should have been cancelled upon checkout due to no inventory. Suffice to say, i had been charged for something that was not going to come, and now am awaiting the five day period to get refunded by cc. Meanwhile, the inventory was STILL up on their checkout side, so more unsuspecting folks could go through the situation i was going through.
The fact that their inventory management system could not handle such a big sale leads me to believe that they didnt stress this at all and did a "live test" with hundreds upon thousands of orders , majority of whom will end up getting credit card refunds. The fact that the inventory *continued* to be up there following these mistakes for a full 6+ hours is even more baffling. It was really a horrible experience. Only saving grace was the CSR who called me up and informed me how this was something that should not have happened and was profusely *personally* sorry. She even said that all the csr's can do is provide customer suggestions/feedback and hope that it engenders a change on how the inventory system is load balanced going forward. Very disappointed in this particular advertised sale.
