This is a another example of shady business that operate amongst our neighborhoods. My mom was going to head up north so she went to firestone to get an oil change. Her car now has 106k miles on it so a oil change was warranted. They did a "complimentary visual inspection" and suggested new spark plug wires, spark plugs, fuel system cleaning, fuel filter for $458. They physically removed a spark plug and my mom never authorized that. How is that a visual inspection? Who authorized this? I asked how were spark plug wires ever tested, they said the spark plug wires were stamped 2000 and assumed never been changed. I'm no mechanic but if the car starts, spark plug wires are fine no? I already filed a BBB complaint so we shall see what happens. Joel Grover from Channel 4 who did the Jiffy Lube investigation has also been contacted. To Firestone...be afraid be very afraid. This could be another nightmare like your Explorer tire fiasco
I had a full major service done at 100k which including replacing new Honda Factory spark plugs and distributor cap. How can it be bad at 106k miles?
