Had a clog storm drain. Called this Rooter Hero because of the advertised $79 to clear any drain. Also advertised as BBB member. Person came on time and stuck a 1/4" snake about 4 feet into the drain. He pulled up a little bit of root and declared the drain was clog with root. The only way to clear it was to attempt a Hydro scrubbing. He quoted $800. Soon the manager called and said he could do it for $650 for the first two hours. They also said if it does not work, they will have to dig up the pipe and the cost will be around $4,000. I already smelled rats with this outfit and declined. The tech left without charging me.
I went on line and found a Hydro scrubbing company. I got an estimate of $350 for the first two hours.
With no faith in any of the plumbers, I decided to stick my own 1/4" snake into the drain. I was able to pull out big chuck of roots. I might not have cleared the drain but Rooter Hero did not even attempt that.
Many of the plumbers are known to be crooks. But why is company like this that practice bait and switch be a BBB member?
